SPECIAL ISSUE: A journey across the Amaryllidaceae: an outlook from the Americas

The family Amaryllidaceae includes two subfamilies: Amarylloideae (including Crinum, Narcissus, etc.) and Allioideae (containing Allium, garlic and onion subfamily), both widely represented in South America. Although it contains species of great economic interest, this group is poorly represented in herbaria, as well as in floristic treatments of the region. This special section aims to 1) bring together different areas of botany in which the representatives of the family are being studied, such as anatomy, cytology, embryology, ecology, and evolution, etc., with emphasis on the South American representatives (not exclusive) and 2) recognize useful tools for species delimitation with the objective of expanding knowledge about the diversity and evolution of the family.

SPECIAL ISSUE:  State of knowledge on non-native plants in natural protected areas of Argentina and Chile.

This special volume compiles original research on native and non-native plants present in protected areas in Argentina and Latin America. Currently, biological invasions are one of the main drivers of change that affect biodiversity and ecosystem processes, putting the future of protected areas in tension. We hope that the articles in this special volume will be an important contribution to future studies and management decisions.

This special volume compiles original studies that were discussed in the framework of the III Jornadas Argentinas de Etnobiología, held in 2021. Specialists in the discipline who have conducted field studies in Latin American villages, as well as reviews of theoretical or methodological aspects of the subject, were invited to participate.

  • JorAMed: VII Jornadas Nacionales de Plantas Aromáticas Nativas y sus Aceites Esenciales // III Jornadas Nacionales de Plantas Medicinales Nativas“Dr. Héctor Ramón Juliani”.
    Vol. 56 No. Suplemento 2 (2021)

    Vol. 55 No. 4 (2020)

From this Vol. 55 (4): 2020, the Boletín de la Sociedad Argentina de Botánica is pleased to offer continuous electronic publication through an On line first of the accepted papers (full articles already assigned to a forthcoming issue); those that will be available before the final version of the issue (printed and online in December).

The On line first version includes those articles that have already completed the entire editorial process, are the final version of the manuscripts and already have Volume and Issue. They can be cited using the date of publication and the unique DOI number. If errors are identified in this version, then they will only be corrected by the use of erratum publication (as is the case with any article already published).

The Bol. Soc. Argent. Bot. will maintain the publication of a volume with four issues per year (March, June, September, December). The only change in the On line first of the papers in relation to the final version, will be the inclusion of the final page numbers.

This editorial effort means an enormous reduction in the time between the acceptance and publication of the articles, with the benefit for the authors. This feature will also allow readers to access articles in advance, with dissemination of the article and greater opportunity for citation.
