Abstract

The project “Design of a Management Information System to optimize decision-making” was implemented at the Management Level of the Nursing Service of the Tránsito Cáceres de Allende Hospital (HTCA) in the city of Cordoba, from the 1st of March to the 30th of May of 2018. When it came to hiring new personnel, the Nursing Service at the HTCA evaluated printed versions of resumes which included basic information (personal information, ID photocopy, updated professional license and a photocopy of the University Degree without authentication). Professionals used to send these resumes to the Direction of the Nursing
Service during the year without knowing the available vacancies. At the moment of calling an applicant, they were asked about the availability on their schedules and questions were made about the interests of the institution; however, it was observed that no important information related to the nursing service was required from the applicants. There was not a guide for the
interviews that could allow organizing and paving the way for the hiring of the new applicant. An institutional diagnosis was carried out in relation to the Process of Selection of Applicants with a design based on intervention and its objective was to design a Management Information System for applicants so as to optimize the decision-making of the Nursing Management Team
at the Tránsito Cáceres de Allende Hospital. The direct beneficiary of the intervention project was the Hospital’s Management Team, who will count with personnel selection instruments for new applicants. In this process, the methodology of strategic planning and participation techniques were applied, which allowed the involvement of the actors throughout this process. During the development of the intervention project, the different objectives were achieved and their results were evident in the elaboration of a preselection form, of an interview guide and in the implementation of the first questionnaire.
