Teachers’ Intervention Practices in University Education: An Experience with Laboratory Activities for Environmental Sciences Students

Abstract

The implementation of laboratory activities as intervention practices in Higher Education can contribute to create learning spaces with collaborative work, while also promoting the interaction and integration of knowledge among learning individuals. The aim was to include a laboratory work practice as a teaching strategy to integrate the curricula of the Environmental Toxicology unit for Environmental Sciences students. The assessment of such activity consisted in observing students both during classes and in the oral presentation of the laboratory activity outcomes. This practice contributed to the development of interactive tasks through collaborative work and competence-based learning resulting from research tasks and the practical application of properly supported theoretical knowledge.
