Submissions
Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
Reflexiones
This section calls for original and unpublished academic and essayistic articles from any field of study related to the arts that address the central theme proposed in each issue by means of revealing or groundbreaking case studies which might be related to the author(s) or be external to them and which allow for the emergence of spaces of reflection among researchers, artists, or groups of artists. The articles can be written in Spanish or Portuguese and they are subject to a double-blind peer review process. In each issue, an Ad Hoc Committee composed of specialists is convened to evaluate the formal and methodological coherence of each article, its contribution to the artistic field it belongs to, and the unique approach adopted in relation to the central theme proposed for each issue. Only those articles submitted within the established deadlines will be considered.
Dossier
In this section, the Editorial Board and the Consultative Academic Committee reflect on the central theme proposed for each issue. In some cases, an ad hoc editor might be convened (they might be a member of the Editorial Team or a person external to the journal or the institution). The Editorial Board (or the ad hoc editor) invites well-known authors to collaborate with Artilugio and explore a particular theme in articles that meet the journal’s guidelines and are subject to a double-blind peer review process.
Diálogos
In this section, the Editorial Board invites well-known artists and leading local cultural figures to share their experiences, processes, and ideas in debates and conversations about the central theme of each issue. ”Diálogos” uses an audiovisual format that aims at creating direct and real-time conversations that recover the experience of discussing contemporary artistic issues. This section is not subject to a peer-review process: the quality of these exchanges is guaranteed by the members of the Editorial Team.
Indeterminación
This section calls for original artistic productions and projects that examine problems of contemporary creation through research-creation methodologies or art-based research. Both finished and unfinished works in line with the central theme proposed for each issue and from any artistic field of study are selected. These works can be captured in different formats (film, photographs, sound recordings, etc.) that create agitated borders between the ephemerality of performance and the permanence of documentation. These submissions must be unpublished, meaning that they will not be accepted if they were previously published or if they are under evaluation in other journals (however, it is possible for them to have been presented in exhibitions or in artistic or academic meetings). These submissions are subject to a single-blind review process. In each issue, an Ad Hoc Committee composed of specialists is convened to evaluate the formal, conceptual, and aesthetic coherence of each work; its contribution to the artistic field it belongs to; and the unique approach adopted in relation to the central theme proposed for each issue. Only those works submitted within the established deadlines will be considered.
