Abstract

The genus Aeschynomene (Leguminosae-Dalbergieae) in Argentina and Paraguay. In this work, twenty species of Aeschynomene L. are cited for the studied region. A parviflora Mich. is confirmed for the flora of Paraguay as well as A viscidula Michx. for the flora of Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina.
Aeschynomene elegans Cham. & Schltdl. and A. brasiliana are cited for the first time for the flora of Paraguay. This work includes descriptions, identification key, illustrations and distribution of species in the region, including modern collections, especially from Bolivia, country where the genus was never studied.
Most type specimens of the species were studied and, for some species, leptotypes or neotypes were
designated.
