Abstract

If we examine carefully the endocranial face of the occipital, we will be struck by a series of anatomical features, perfectly known and that alternately, are presented as excavations or pits and saliences or reliefs, common to all and of the same character.

But if we compare two or more occipitals, we will discover at once, that there is not the same disposition of these accidents, but on the contrary, they are all different.

There are no two alike; as happens in the thumb of the fingers, with the distribution and shape of the epidermis, which is used as an element of identification and is specific to each individual.

This fact has helped us to study, in some isolated bones, which we reproduce photographically in our work, the variations that are usually observed and, above all, to find the explanation for them.
