The present work corresponds to data collected from current sources in the region between the Colorado and Chico rivers and the Andes mountain range. The stories, reports and references have been provided directly by the natives of the area referred to, and although I have included them under the denomination of "Güiliches" (people of the South), I do not discriminate on the origin of the Indians who in this case have served as a source for my work. And I do not do so, precisely, because it is a complex matter to classify the aboriginal groups existing in Patagonia.

Lázaro Flury (San Martín de las Escobas, Sante Fe, Argentina, January 27, 1909, San Jorge, Argentina, January 11, 2002) was a professor, researcher, writer and disseminator of Argentine folklore. Author of numerous books and professor of folklore, History of Argentine Music and Folkloric Dances at the National Universities of Litoral and Rosario. He participated as a Founding Member and President of the first board of directors of the Biblioteca Popular Rivadavia de San Jorge in 1929 and as co-founder of the Colegio Nacional in 1950. He was one of the most important figures in the field of Folklorogy, his studies were published in newspapers and magazines in Chile, Ecuador, Brazil and Mexico. Flury was an active defender of the native peoples of Argentina. He lived with Indians of Patagonia and the Chaco; he arranged interviews between delegations of aborigines with the governors of their respective provinces, wrote the book "Tradiciones y leyendas de los indios del Chaco", and presided over the Comisión Indigenista Argentina for 10 years. He wrote numerous books, such as Danzas folclóricas argentinas, Historia de la música argentina, Leyendas americanas, and others.
