Abstract

NOTE FROM THE MANAGEMENT: A metropolitan newspaper, La Nación, formulated the survey that precedes this letter, to which the late Dr. Pitt replied with the unpublished pages that follow, the text of which we owe to a difference from the Director of the newspaper mentioned. The Directorate interprets, with this publication, to pay a due homage to the memory, so respected, of the author.

Juan Carlos Pitt (Córdoba, 1869 - 1914) was an Argentine professor and politician.

He studied at the Colegio Nacional de Monserrat and then went on to the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences of the National University of Córdoba, where he received his law degree in 1891.

He was president of the Provincial Council of Education, general director of schools in Córdoba, provincial and then national deputy. He was part of the list of convention members who reformed the provincial constitution in 1900.

In 1904 he became Mayor of the city of Córdoba, after the resignation of Félix T. Garzón, who was to occupy the vice-governorship. He left office the following year, and later became minister of the government of José Vicente de Olmos.

In his last years, suffering from a serious illness, he gave priority to his teaching work, being in 1913 dean of the School of Law and Social Sciences and member of the Superior Council of the university.
