El papel del ácido jasmónico y giberelinas en la ontogenia de las plantas considerando especialmente el desarrollo de los frutos

El ácido jasmónico (JA) y sus análogos han despertado el interés de los fisiólogos vegetales debido a su amplia presencia en el reino vegetal, su eficacia como promotores de la senescencia, y su papel como factores endógenos en el desarrollo de las plantas, involucrados en diferentes procesos fisiológicos. Este artículo trata sobre el probable papel que dichos compuestos juegan en diferentes estadios de la ontogenia de la planta, especialmente en la germinación y el crecimiento de la plántula, en el crecimiento y la senescencia de los órganos vegetativos, así como en el desarrollo reproductivo, particularmente en los frutos. Las giberelinas (GAs) parecen estar involucradas en el proceso de regulación del cuajado de los frutos. Investigaciones en Carica papaya han demostrado que en los frutos jóvenes en desarrollo predominan las giberelinas biológicamente muy activas GA1 y GA3, mientras que en los frutos amarillos destinados a caer, predominan la GA55 y un conjugado neutro de GA1. La presencia de GAs poco activas en frutos senescentes podría correlacionarse con los procesos fisiológicos que conducen a la caída.
