Abstract

The following essay intends to analyze the magazine Norte Argentino which was printed in Tucumán since 1942. Its editorial line was leaded by militants of the “Acción Católica”. This research investigates the magazine content from its beginnings to the middle of 1945. Because of the importance of this press organ for the catholic church of the period, and because of the importance of the columnists, the journal synthesizes the main ideas of the catholic integralism of the last period of the interwar. With this investigation we intend to make a contribution to the study of the church history in this country. Although the publication was framed within the ecclesiastic national politics, it shows its own regional character reflecting its particularities. Besides, this research intends to go further into the relationship between catholic laity and the fact government which emerged in June 1943 and into the origins of peronism as well, taking into account that the publication supported both processes and that some members of Norte Argentino had public positions in those years.
