Towards a characterization of the languages ​​of street art

Abstract

Since 2015 we have been involved in the establishment of dialogues/tensions between the geographical discipline and various expressions of artistic work, with particular emphasis on the study of contemporary urban landscape, deepening the understanding of the aesthetic evolution of the city. During the period 2018-2020 we focused on investigating the expressivities of street art in the framework of the development of our degree thesis, which was entitled: Trajectories, practices and aesthetic manifestations in the contemporary city. The expressivities of street art and its becoming landscape in Córdoba, Argentina. The purpose of this article is to present part of the analytical emergences derived from the research, proposing a classification and characterization of the languages of street art that will help readers to distinguish different artistic gestures recognizable in the public space from their materialities, expressive qualities, historicities, actors involved and discursivities.
