Abstract

This work discusses the experience and practice acquired throughout the preparation and execution of a two-year ongoing University Project of Community Engagement entitled “Musical circuits, creating new bonds between the UNSJ and society”, designed within the Creative Industries Program of the National University of San Juan (UNSJ). It is carried out with an initiative of the Chair of Educational and Artistic Projects of the Music Teacher Training Program (nineteen orientations) offered by the Music Department of the School of Philosophy, Humanities and Arts (FFHA) that belongs to the UNSJ. It comprises students, teachers, non-teaching staff of the institution, and other governmental and non-governmental organizations (foundations) that work towards a common goal. Its objective is to value and promote the artistic production and intangible cultural assets of the University, the community of San Juan and the region, as well as its circulation within and outside the province.

The proposal also aims to professionalize the different activities for the production of musical events and to create audiences that break the polarization between academic music and popular music, encouraging the exchange of knowledge between the university (through the tasks of teaching, community engagement, creation and research) and the rest of society.
