Prevention and promotion of oral health in mid-level students.

Professional-teachers and students, we must contribute to improve self-care knowledge specifically in oral health, providing information with tools necessary to transfer the knowledge generated and become healthy practices. The objective was to promote the health-disease-care process (PSEA) at the oral level to the students of the National School of Monserrat of the city of Córdoba.
A quantitative strategy was carried out with two simultaneous moments: Moment of Education and Health Promotion Activities. With workshop type activities. Moment of Diagnosis and Specific Practices. They were carried out: meetings of the interdisciplinary team for the necessary adjustments of the planning of the activities and to design the survey destined to the survey of the knowledge of the PSEA. Awareness workshops were developed about the PSEA, with student participation: 1st workshop: Informational / educational activity. 2nd Workshop: Anatomical Recognition Activities in the Department of Anatomy of the Faculty of Dentistry. 3rd workshop: Educational action planning.
Data collection was done through a semi-structured Survey. It was analyzed with the SPSS program of the computer lab of the Faculty of Dentistry. UNC
Results: Frequency of brushing teeth once 11%, twice 56%, three times 33%. Brush replacement: every 2 months 12%; 3 months 24%; 6 months 48%; 12 months16%. Flossing: Does not use 74% floss; Sometimes it uses: 22%; Use thread: 4%. Knowledge about F: Yes 11%; Does not know 70%; Yes (preventive) 19%. Topication with Fluor: Did not receive F 63%; If you received F 37%. Extra sugars x1 19%; x2 37%; x3 15%; sugar> 3 30%. Reason for the consultation: Medical record: 38%; Control 33%; Orthodontics 17%; Caries 4%; Endodontics 4%; Extraction 1 4%. Piercing use Yes (nose). 7%; It does not use 93%.
The training of middle-level students in the PSEA, promoted attitudes of social commitment and ability to work in teams, transferring healthy practices to their peers and society acting as health promoters. The educational community acted transversally in health care actions, especially in oral health, covering the expectations raised.
