Resumo

O humor e as emoções fazem parte da experiência consciente de todas as pessoas e podem influenciar as ações que tomam e as decisões que tomam. E, como todos os outros aspectos da psicologia, os humores vivenciados e as emoções sentidas são o produto da interação de neurotransmissores no cérebro. As neurociências identificaram muitos fatores diferentes que influenciam a probabilidade de experimentar certos estados de espírito e/ou vulnerabilidade emocional, e a genómica fornece a definição de marcadores que permitem determinar traços genéticos de risco ou suscetibilidade a sofrer de patologias psiquiátricas ou emocionais, como depressão e ansiedade.

A determinação dos traços genéticos, estabelecendo o perfil genómico através da avaliação de polimorfismos associados ao bem-estar emocional, constituem uma ferramenta útil para a tomada de decisões para a previsão e aplicação de estratégias de prevenção orientadas e precisas, que é hoje o objetivo do novo paradigma dos cuidados de saúde: medicina preditiva, preventiva e personalizada.
