Abstract

Banking history is an increasingly rich and varied terrain for research in Latin American economic history. In the present essay I present an overview of key aspects of banking history with special reference to sources for banking history of historical archives of banks in Europe with particular attention to sources in Germany, France, Great Britain and Spain. We also provide information on similar sources in libraries in the United States.
