Abstract

There is no democracy without the rule of law and there is no rule of law without judicial independence. This paper analyses the existing parameters in this respect in international law, its requirements for membership of certain international organizations and the jurisprudence of the main international judicial bodies in the European (ECtHR and CJEU) and American (IACHR) regional systems.
