One of the important features of XXI Century society is the continuous circulation of information. This influences the educational context, in which new professors are trained. A quantitative methodology is used in this work to identify the use of technologies that professors of the Department of Education at Los Lagos University employ in their professional activities; understand the way they value ICT in teaching and research; know the previous education that they have in order to use ICT in teaching; identify the needs of further education of the professors; consider the organizational and/or infrastructure problems that would facilitate or become an obstacle to the inclusion of ICT in teaching and research. The results obtained from this research allow the construction of a reference scheme which may be of help to planning and development of formative actions and advising in ICT at the university in order to drive towards the accomplishment of proposals of educational policy engaged in an effective and successful implementation of ICT.Downloads
