Abstract

The progress curves of peanut leaf spot, Cercospora arachidicola Hori and Cercosporidium personatum (Berk. & Curt.) Deighton, were studied in field crops for three growing seasons. The values of severity were logistically transformed. The initial disease (Y₀) was estimated by simple regression of the "logit" over time. The parameters used in this research were: a) initial disease; b) epiphytic rates; c) effects of fungicide applications; and d) total effect of disease measured as the area under the disease progress curve (AUDPC). Usually, crop rotation showed lower values of initial disease (Y₀) and higher values of initial epiphytic rates (r₀). Generally, the latent period after the applications of flusilazole (systemic fungicide) was shorter than that when contact fungicides (fentin acetate, fentin hydroxide, and mancozeb) were used, and the effective period was longer.
