Abstract

This study was carried out in order to evaluate which aphid species are present on sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) as well as to evaluate their flight activity. Weekly samples were taken during the crop development until the finalization of the reproductive stage. One thousand and fifty migrant aphids were collected in yellow traps. They represented 18 genera and 26 species. Rhopalosiphum maidis (Fitch, 1856) was the most frequent species (55.7 %), followed by Therioaphis trifolii (Monell, 1882) (12.1 %). The highest flight activity was registered during the vegetative stage V3-V4 of the sunflower crop. Direct observations on plants confirmed that Contiflor 3 was more colonized than Dekalb G 100 and Cargill 430 by Myzus persicae (Sulzer, 1776). It was confirmed that this aphid species transmits a Potyvirus infecting sunflower crop.
