Abstract

The Russian aphid, Diuraphis noxia (Kurdjumov, 1913) (Homoptera: Aphididae), probably native to Central Asia, is currently considered, in North America, South Africa and Ethiopia, the major pest of winter cereals, mainly on Triticum aestivum L. (wheat) and Hordeum vulgare L. (barley) (Farias, 1997). In South America, it has been recorded in Chile since 1988 and, subsequently, in Argentina, in the provinces of Mendoza and Buenos Aires.
