Abstract

Extraction of seeds from the fruits of Prosopis genus poses a main problem for reproduction as well as for research of this genus. In order to favour an easier method of extraction, a new threshing mechanism is therefore proposed for the pods of this genus taking into account the factors in the fruit and the mechanism that may affect the quality and efficiency of the threshing. The results indicated that the number of seeds extracted depends upon the barbs employed and their distribution in terms of the space between the cylinder and the concave regardless of the speed employed in the treatment.
