Abstract

In the tourism industry, particularly in air transport, airlines need to complete the occupation of all their flights. For this purpose, they offer travel agencies, especially wholesalers, increases in their profitability (incentives) to achieve certain sales volumes (goals).

Using research resources of operations, this work applies a proposed model of linear programming, to the problematic situation, which maximizes the profitability of the travel agencies, through a redirection in their sales, considering restrictions of mobile expected amount per area, and incentive percentages associated with each proposed goal.

The proposal of this project is intended to cover all areas where it is useful to apply the model, which consists of 42 variables and 60 restrictions. The results obtained are satisfactory, due to the scope in the amount of the profits. After, it´s a comparison of the values of these gains, with those that are expected to be obtained without the use of the tool.

In conclusion, this project manages to optimize the control of incentives, through the proposed tool, able to help travel agencies to make sound decisions, about the sales direction that maximizes the profitability of your business, under any circumstance.
