El Congreso Internacional de Educación Superior, Innovación e Investigación en Medicina tiene su antecedente desde el COLEMSABAPc (Congreso Latinoamericano de Educación Superior Médica y Aprendizaje Basado en Casos Clínicos). En razón a ello, se ve la necesidad de incluir más aspectos relacionados en la Educación Superior como la Innovación e Investigación en Medicina, elementos que son necesarios en la formación del médico (UNIFRANZ, 2018), en base a las exigencias de la sociedad y del mundo globalizado.
