“Black bile”: New Feminist Materialisms to politicize the sufferings of neoliberalism

Abstract

From the New Feminist Critical Materialisms and the Decolonial approach, I reflect on the neoliberal order in its emotional, psychic and practical dimension, manifested both in the bio-physical-psychic-psychic resistances considered dark and disabling in the subjects such as depression or anxiety; as well as in the institutional responses offered to address these conditions and, especially, gender-based violence. I characterize as medicalized, pathologizing and bureaucratized the hegemonic logics of care for the singular-social-structural sufferings of the subjects, which from happiness paradigms and with an over-expectation in the possibility of reparation regulated by the State, are repeated in their responses. I conclude that the assessment and politicization of states of discomfort or negative and the conflicts that break out in social coexistence can be addressed by feminisms as novel policies that break in and destabilize the Neoliberal offensive that is passing through us.
