Neuropsychological interventions for the functional recovery of children and adolescents with traumatic brain injury. Systematic review.
Main Article Content
Abstract
Pediatric TBI impairs the cognitive, affective and behavioral functioning of thousands of children worldwide; however, rehabilitation programs appear to be scarce. This research describes neuropsychological interventions aimed at the recovery of cognitive, behavioral and affective deficits in children under 19 years of age with TBI. A systematic search of original articles published in the last 5 years in the Scopus and ScienceDirect databases was conducted, using the keywords Pediatric/ TBI/ Rehabilitation. Twenty articles were identified whose characteristics were summarized in three Tables. The reported interventions showed improvements in the recovery of the deficits, without differences due to the time of insertion or the severity of injury. Since none of the studies analyze the generalization of the results, it is recommended to consider it in future research. The absence of studies in the Latin American population is striking.
