TYPE OF WORK AND SUBJECT OF STUDY SELECTED BY STUDENTS OF BACHELOR OF NURSINGAS FINAL WORK

Introduction: Research is an essential activity for nursing professionals and for the enrichment
of the discipline. Training in methodological aspects and in the selection of study topics during
undergraduate training is essential. Objectives: to determine what type of final project and
what topics of study are selected by the students of the Bachelor of Nursing at the Universidad
Nacional del Sur (UNS) to pass the subject Final Project. Methodology: type of study:
exploratory, descriptive and cross-sectional. Site: DCS. UNS. Universe: all the final works to
pass the subject Final Work carried out by students of the Nursing Degree of the UNS from
2011 to 2018. Data collection instrument and technique: The information of each work was
organized in a data dump table elaborated by the authors based on the variables and dimensions
determined for the study. Results: The 88 papers were classified as follows: research
papers: 24; theoretical essays: 18; theoretical-empirical essays: 13; intervention projects: 4;
systematization of experience: 1; state of affairs: 7; exploratory study: 4; experience report:
2; research projects: 15. Analysis of selected topics: 40% are linked to the lines of the DCS.
98% are related to relevant or priority issues for nursing in Latin America. All use a qualitative
methodological design. Discussion and Conclusion: This research shows descriptive data on
the types of work and the study topics that were selected by the students of the Bachelor of
Nursing as part of the Final Work, so the results should be understood in this context, not
pretending the comparison with other similar studies. The final papers presented are mostly
research papers, then theoretical essays and research projects. 40% is related to DCS research
lines. 98% fit into the list of relevant or priority issues in Latin America. 100% of the Research
Works use the methodological design.
