Abstract

The approach CTS (Science, Technology and Society) is based on the proposition that sciences teaching, in addition to providing knowledge to understand the phenomena of nature, it must also consider the relationships between Science, Technology and Society. This work presents a study of a
case that has as its objective to investigate the didactic possibilities within the approach of the Leaming Centered in Events (ACE). The idea on which this strategy is based, is that the scientific concepts and their technological applications, as well as that their relationships to what is social, can be better
exploited if the leaming of these concepts is centered in events that operate as an integration pole of the triad Science- Technology - Society. The Radioactive accident of Goiania was the event chosen to integrate scientific, technological and social concepts related to the issue of the radioactivity, in a class of 30 pupils (13 to 15 years old). As a set of results, can be emphasized the increase in the participation of the pupils in the didactic activities, the good acceptance of the proposal by the pupils and teachers, and the enrichment of the teachers through the contribution of teachers from different areas, beyond the creation of conditions for the interdisciplinary work.
