General author guidelines

In a first phase, the Editorial Team will review the manuscript to check for quality and suitability in terms of the sections of the journal. For this initial review, the Editorial Team may request assistance, if necessary, from members of the Scientific Committee. As a result, at this point, a manuscript can be either forwarded to external peer review, or rejected if it does not meet quality standards or provide a novel contribution to any of the sections.

Educational Research 

Before preparing your manuscript, please download the following template PLANTILLA CON EL FORMATO. It contains all the relevant information needed for the correct preparation of your manuscript. Please read it carefully.

Criteria for publication. The research problem under study, as well as the research questions or goals should be clearly described. The work must relate to previous results reported in the literature. The significance and relevance of the research questions in terms of what has already been investigated in the field must be made explicit. The relevance, up-to-date, and quality of the cited literature will be evaluated. The quality of the citations will be assessed in relation to the databases to which such citations belong (SCOPUS, WEB OF SCIENCE, SCIELO, etc.). The theoretical and methodological approach must be clear and coherent with the research Theoretical, as well as methodological decisions must be supported in relation to the research problem. Results should be presented in such a way that their relation to the study’s goals are clear and explicit. Conclusions must be consistently based on the results obtained, and clearly articulated to them. A description of how the research contributes to the current state of the art is essential. This can be either in terms of extrapolation, improvement, methodological contributions, or other aspects. It is also important to highlight the limitations of the study, as well as possible future work.

Suggested structure for research papers: I. Introduction, II. Background, III. Conceptual framework, IV. Methods, V. Results and discussion, VI. Conclusions, VII. References.

Essays and Special Topics (Ensayos y Temas Especiales)

Criteria for publication. The problem addressed should be clearly presented. Manuscripts should present an original and significant contribution to the teaching of physics or other basic scientific disciplines. The contribution can be historical, philosophical, pedagogical, or disciplinary. Developments already discussed in other bibliographic sources will not be considered. The essay should clearly outline its potential as input for research in physics/science didactics and/or for teacher training or practice. The relevance, timeliness, and quality of the cited literature will be valued. The quality of the citations will be assessed in relation to the databases to which such citations belong (SCOPUS, WEB OF SCIENCE, SCIELO, etc.).

Suggested structure for essays and special topics: I. Introduction, II. Thesis and arguments, III. Conclusions, IV. References.

 

Teaching Narratives (Relatos de Aula)

Before preparing your manuscript, please download the following template PLANTILLA CON EL FORMATO. It contains all the relevant information needed for the correct preparation of your manuscript. Please read it carefully.

Criteria for publication. The following will be specially taken into account:

a) a contextualization of the situation that describes the circumstances that gave rise to the experience: what motivated the implementation of the proposal (the teaching problem), what characteristics the course/students/institution had, what the expectations were, what resources were available, etc.

b) a description of the teaching proposal with a rationale for the actions taken: what was proposed, why/for what purpose

c) Results: concrete evidence (verbalizations or other types of student records) of what occurred regarding student and teacher participation during the implementation of the proposal

d) final considerations explaining why the proposal was fruitful and in what aspects could be improved.

Suggested structure for classroom experiences: I. Introduction, II. Basis of the experience, III. Description of the experience, IV. Systematization and analysis of the experience, V. Final considerations, VI. Bibliographical references.

Citation Standards (Normas de citación)

Revista de Enseñanza de la Física follows APA style for citations and bibliographic references.

Authors must correctly document other authors opinions mentioned in the manuscript, citing the original work. Any citation of 40 words or less should be placed between quotation marks. Ommited words or phrases must be replaced by (…).

Citations within text:

1) to cite a particular reference, Author’s last name and year of publication should be placed in parenthesis, or only year of publication if the author is mentioned in the phrase. Examples:

Previous research has shown correlation between these variables (Gutiérrez, 2013).

Viadero M. (2007) informs a study of over two hundred cases that exhibit this particular correlation.
