Abstract

Given the traditional leadership of American educational publishers in the Canadian context, in this article I examine whether –and eventually how- the educational, political and even legal controversy between evolutionists and creationists is dealt with in officially recommended textbooks in Canada. The aim is to compare the discursive strategies that are used both in provincial curriculum provisions as in the Biology textbooks of 11th and 12th grades, published by Canadian and American companies to teach evolution in British Columbia.
