Argentine historiography on audiovisual matters has maintained a centralist view from its beginnings, an approach that privileged the film productions produced in the Metropolitan Area of Buenos Aires (AMBA) and built from there the categories from which the first film histories would be elaborated (Di Núbila, 1960; Mahieu, 1966), as well as the local writings of later generations. According to this perspective, the country outside the AMBA seems to be mainly a scenario used for the filming of movies originated in the capital and the exploration of different cinematographic experiences is restricted to mentions considered atypical. However, in recent decades we have witnessed a marked development in film production in the regions, an expansion that has led to reconsider this way of approaching the subject.
