Abstract

The Horco Molle Experimental Reserve carries out tasks of environmental education about the protection and conservation of species and ecosystems in danger. These tasks include educational workshops about native fl ora and avifauna aimed at secondary school students. However, there was no data about the students? previous knowledge. During the year 2008, questionnaires aimed at 540 students were carried out in order to inquire into said knowledge. Even though most of the students did not know about the species of native trees, they showed a high level of knowledge regarding native birds. The obtained answers showed the necessity of developing policies with practical and existential character in the long run.
