Abstract

The treatment of reproduction concept in textbooks of the first years of secondary school from different publishers wascharacterized. The analysis was carried out taking into account the organization of each chapter, the approach, the development of six key concepts, the use of analogies and/or metaphors, illustrations and proposed activities. This analysis revealed two  aspects to which textbooks respond: their role as commercial elements and their educational function. The lack of elements that contribute to the construction of the concept was remarkable.
